Somebody Is Perfect... And It’s You!
In this blog series, we look closer into the pursuit of perfection. In a world fixated on superficial standards for perfection, it's refreshing to explore a notion of perfection that transcends the world's standard by looking through the lens of God' compassion and His definition.
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48
In the above scripture, Jesus speaks of a perfection you can attain according to your heavenly Father's definition of perfection. This divine standard stands apart from the worldly measures of perfection that's based on appearance, possessions, or societal approval. It surpasses even the stringent standards you may impose on yourself.
God’s standard of perfection is described in John 10:10 where Jesus says:
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Therefore God’s perfection consists of:
You stopping the thief’s actions of kill, steal, and destroy.
You having life - which means a living a fulfilling life in all areas of your life.
You have a fulfilling abundanace in your fulfilling life - our Creator is a creator of abundance, and in Ge 1: 26-28 He gave us the command to do the same thing because we are made in His image.
So, how do we align ourselves with God's perfect standard? It begins with understanding and embodying His love. God's love is not fleeting, it's unwavering and boundless. By embracing and living through His love, we move closer to His perfection.
During this series, we will explore three key details of obtaining God's perfection which are His love, His peace, and His will. Join me each week as we uncover how you can obtain perfection, not in the world's eyes, but through God’s divine love and His standard of perfection.
