PERFECT WILL
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
The above two scriptures detail four activities of how you can be perfect by living and operating in God’s perfect will:
Activity 1 - Presenting your body as a holy, acceptable, and living sacrifice: “holy” means dedicating and consecrating your physical body as special and only used for God’s intended purpose according to His righteousness. “acceptable” means you agree and find it suitable or appropriate for you to present your body as such. Lastly “living” means this is done every day while your physical body is full of life.
To present the body this way you have to see it as a reasonable or rational service. “service” in Greek means worship. This means you are willing to worship God by “killing” any unrighteous (against God’s principles) works of the flesh.
Activity 2 - Stop conforming to the world - Successfully completing the first activity makes the next activity activity of nonconforming easier to do. To conform means to take the shape, appearance, or mannerisms of another, and the word “world” in Greek means “an age”. Therefore allow yourself to break the mold or pattern of what the times of today say is the way you should be using your freewill. Your freewill consists of your beliefs, desires, and motivations which the societal rulers of this age want you to conform to its unrighteous beliefs, desires, and motivations
Activity 3 - Allowing a renewed mind to transform you No longer being conformed will allow you to become transformed as your mind becomes renewed. “transformation” in Greek is where we get the word “metamorphosis” which is a change of form or nature into something completely different. The word “mind” in Greek represents your intellect or your ability to reason and understand using mental powers. Therefore your transformation will happen as you renew (renovate) your thinking. This will result in you living through a completely different nature and life because your mind is being restored to a state of good and permanent repair.
Activity 4 - Prove that (already put in place and completed) good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. “prove” in Greek is to discern (able to recognize) and examine (test thoroughly) the:
Good will of God - God’s will which results in having what is beneficial and well. This will of God moves you forward in life.
Acceptable will of God - As mentioned earlier, acceptable means that which is fully agreeable. This part of the will of God causes you to be able to accept what God has predestined for your life which will cause growth in your life.
Perfect will of God - The perfect will of God is where your transformation allows you to be the “authentic you”. This is the true you who, free from unrighteous thoughts and habits you were once conformed to are gone, allowing you to perfectly live a fruitful life according to God’s plan and will.
