Needs or Desires?
Wow! We’re almost halfway through 2024. What was it that you wanted New Year to accomplish this year… make more money, shed some weight, put away bad habits and wrong mindsets?
This still can be your best year yet once you turn your wants into a desire. Let me biblically show you how to do this.
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying “Do not be afraid Abram. I am your shield, your exceeding great reward.” But Abram said, “LORD God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damacus?” Genesis 15:1 & 2 (NKJV)
Just as with Abram (later Abraham)Yahweh wants to be your exceedingly great reward and as he protects and blesses you. However, notice Abram said “seeing I go childless”. Though he wanted children, the only thing he could see, Abram wanted a child, but the fact he did not have any stopped at the wanting stage which caused him to also want God to see, It’s vital for you to understand that whenever you focus on the negative external circumstances (being overweight, not having enough money, having low self esteem, etc.) your want will never turn into a desire and therefore you will continue to have an unfulfilled want because that is what you “see”.
Turning Wants into Desires
And behold the world of the LORD came to him saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir. The He brought him outside and said “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And He believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:4-6 (NKJV)
Desire is when we expect our wants to be achieved because of our belief is it is already accomplished. The above scriptural passage God gives the steps for turning your wants into desires:
Do not limit yourself by what you currently see. Though the circumstance might be real for now, it does not limit you and your potential to acquire what you will desire.
Change your environment. God had to take Abram outside of the place where his want had stopped. We might have to do the same by changing the environment of the people we associate with, what we are watching or reading, and the places we frequent on a regular basis because if we do not, our want will stay stagnated.
Change your perspective - Develop a positive state of mind by always thinking good about yourself and imagining yourself accomplishing your resolution and how it will make you feel. Do this in your mind no less than twelve times per day every day.
Be confident of the outcome - Allow the expectancy that will grow as you change your perspective to turn into confidence that your resolution or goal will happen.
Let that confidence turn into belief - Belief is when you know that your resolution or goal is already accomplished and it does not matter what has or will happen.
Doing these steps will not only cause desires to become your reality, but will also allow 2024 to be one of the best years of your life.
